The European Youth and Sport Forum 2008 is planned to take place during the French Presidency of the EU in the second half of 2008. The organisational partnership includes national partners, such as the ENGSO member – French Olympic Committee and the ISCA members - UFOLEP, USEP and FFEPGV. The Forum will try to illustrate how the EU white paper on Sport is implement from a Youth and Sport point of view.

The Youth Action Plan on Sport

A green paper on sport presented a range of ideas and was meant to invite interested individuals or organizations to contribute views and information on all sort of sport matter that are of political interest.

It was followed by a white paper on sport in 2007 (http://ec.europa.eu/sport/whitepaper/wp_on_sport_en.pdf), an official set of proposals that is used as a vehicle for the development into law.

In its “pink” paper the EYSF 2008 will demonstrate how youth and sport put the spirit and the words of the white paper into practice and uncovers further trends. The pink paper on sport points out the good practices from a local to European level, initiatives that are carried out and inspiration for local communities, NGO’s, national governments and European Institutions.

The pink paper will be a kind of catalogue gathering information on various initiatives and will serve as impetus for GOs and NGOs to join these efforts in a political and structural sense.

The EYSF2008 will deliver much more than recommendations, it will deliver options, solutions for citizens, for volunteers, professionals and decision makers to put into action what has been formulated by green and white words. The EYSF2008 will cover the following topics:

·       Public health and physical activity

·       Education and training

·       Volunteering in sport, active citizenship and non-profit sport organisations

·       Social inclusion in and through sport

·       Prevention of and fight against racism and violence in sport

·       Structural dialogue with sport stakeholders

·       Cooperation with Member States

·       Social dialogue

-  referring to the Action plan “Pierre de Coubertin” (http://ec.europa.eu/sport/whitepaper/sec934_en.pdf)

The Forum will recruit young volunteers and professionals that have a specific experience with projects within the larger framework of the white paper and that can serve as role models for other youngsters, organisations and communities.

The Forum should create a dynamic momentum that inspires youngsters and political decision makers to support and implement such initiatives and to get into a dialogue about the importance that citizens and governing bodies acts hand in hand.
